Stamford Raffles
Stamford Raffles
Take a trip to the circus
To make you feel nervous
And fill you with purpose.

Of a collection of verses
In towering sermons,
That scatter the demons
To four different seasons:
A feeling that burns and then freezes.

P. T. Barnum, American showman and politician, was born today in 1810.

Stamford Raffles, English statesman, founder of Singapore, died on this day in 1826.
